A regular business meeting of The Villages Gem and Mineral Society was held at Sea Breeze Recreation

Center on August 7, 2014. Club President, Bill Collins, called the meeting to order at 6:45 pm.

Officers Reports:

Secretary, Bill Collins presented the report for Rhonda West

The minutes for June were emailed to each person on the Club Roster. They were also posted on the new website. There was no July 2014 business meeting.

It was moved and seconded to approve the June minutes with one correction. The correction is to the dates for the Jacksonville Gem and Mineral Show. The correct show dates are September 19-21.

Treasurer, Bill Collins gave the Treasurers report for Richard Goodspeed.

Annual Gem Club Show

September 1st

January 2015. However, we will start the sign up now as stated in the minutes. A table for club members is

$20. Please complete a sign-up sheet on our website. In September we will open the table signup to other

was the scheduled starting date for signing up for tables at the Annual Gem Club Show in

Villagers ($30 per table). In October it will open up to outside vendors ($45 per table). All sign-ups, etc.

need to be completed by Jan. 1st

We will be having a demonstration room. We are looking for volunteers to demonstrate our club activities

such as wire wrapping, cabochon making, etc. We are also interested in any other clubs that maybe interested

in having a demonstration of their craft.

We also need door prizes that relate to our club activities. We need good craft type items that coordinate with

our show.

Colonial Day at Brownwood

January 20, 2015 is the date for the Colonial Day at Brownwood. We need individuals who want to sell or

provide demonstrations. The show is from noon to 4 pm.

Christmas Party

Our Club Christmas Party will be December 4 at 6:00pm. There will be NO MEETING on the date of the party.

Safety Officer, Ed Mrak

We are working on the safety rules for each piece of equipment. The club will have safety glasses available

for individuals attending their first meeting.


The Jacksonville Gem Mineral and Fossil Show will be at the Morocco Shrine Auditorium, 3800 St. John’s Bluff Rd., Sept. 19-21

Field Trips

Ruck’s Pit is still under consideration for sometime in the fall.

Peace River trip will be scheduled when the water level goes down toward the end of the hurricane season.

Graves Mountain, GA “Rock, Swap and Dig” is October 3-5, 8 am to 6 pm each day. It is recommended that

you call the hotel to make your own reservations. .
